Overwriting GoObserve v.1 on your Desktop/Laptop (v.1 Users Only)
By downloading GoObserve v.2, you will automatically delete the v.1 application and data files. Due to the significant changes between v.1 and v.2, it is not possible to automatically transfer staff, criteria, activities and phrases. If you need to print an observation/s from last year, it's important to do that before this download.
Deleting GoObserve Version 1.0 from Your Handheld
It is necessary to delete GoObserve Version 1.0 from your Palm handheld.
To do this, go to the handheld "Home" screen (tap the little house).
In the upper left-hand corner, tap the time. This activates a drop-down
menu. Tap "Delete," then tap "GoObserve," then tap "Delete" at the
bottom of the screen, then tap "Done." This removes GoObserve Version
1.0 from your handheld.
GoObserve Version 2.0 Documentation
To fully appreciate the many new features incorporated in Version 2, it is important to thoroughly review the documentation. Click on "GoObserve Version 2.0 User Guide" to download a PDF file.
You will need "Acrobat Reader" to open and print the documentation
brochure.
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
For many excellent reasons, GoObserve Version 2.0 was developed so that
it requires the installation of Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 software
with your Windows operating system. The majority of GoObserve users
will already have this software installed.
The computer you are currently using does not appear to have the
Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 installed. Please follow the instructions
below to verify and then download the .NET installer.
Checking for the .NET Framework
To manually check if the .NET
Framework is installed on your computer, go to "Start" then "Control
Panel," then "Add or Remove Programs." The applications are listed
alphabetically. Go down the list to see if Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
is installed. If it is, no other steps are necessary. If you do not
find the .NET Framework 1.1 on your program list, or if you have an
earlier version (1.0), then you will need to download the .NET software
from the GoObserve web site.

If needed, click here to download the .NET
Framework version 1.1 installer. You should not need to restart after running
the installer, so if you are given the option of saving or opening the file
and choose open it should install the .NET Framework and after closing the
installer leave you back at this web page. This is a large (23 MB) download,
and may take several minutes depending on your connection speed.
Before Downloading GoObserve v.2 and Synchronizing with your Palm Handheld
Before downloading, be sure that Palm Desktop is already installed on your computer. Before you synchronize GoObserve with your handheld, proceed through the setup steps on your desktop/laptop. The first time, it will be necessary to synchronize your handheld twice, once to install the application and a second time to synchronize your settings and the staff members.
Download GoObserve Version 2.0
Click on the "Download Demo Now" button below to download
the installer. After you fill in some basic information about yourself and click "Start Download" you should be presented with a "File Download" box. Click
"Save." At the "Save As" box, click "Save." After the application has
downloaded to your computer, you will see a "Download Complete" box.
Click "Open." Select "I Agree" at the GoKnow licensing software
agreement, then click "Install." You must accept a second "Set-up
license for GoObserve." Click "I Agree" again. The type of install
should be "Full" and both the "GoObserve.prc" and "HotSync Support
(conduit)" should be checked. Click "Next," then click "Install" again.
The install tool will highlight the username for your handheld. Click
"OK," then "Done," then "OK" again. Then click "Close."
