With PAAM installed on any Internet-connected computer, your students' work will be stored on GoKnow's secure website whenever they synchronize their Palm Powered computers.

PAAM enables teachers to:

  • Organize and archive student work
  • View and print student work
  • Send feedback to students
  • Distribute due dates and assignments
  • View applications installed on student handhelds
  • Install and delete applications
  • And back-up and restore student work
At West Hills Middle School in West Bloomfield, Michigan, students synchronize their handhelds in the computer lab before classes start for the day. PAAM delivers to students any feedback, assignments, or study sheets their teachers may have posted the previous day. Student assignments are also uploaded to PAAM so they can be graded by their teachers later in the day or that evening. In this school, students also often use PAAM from home. Not only can they pull up their handheld work on a desktop computer, but parents are also brought into the loop with the ability to access the student work from home. In addition, every time the students synchronize, their work is backed up automatically. This prevents the lost work -- a situation that often occurs in schools not using PAAM.

Teachers and administrators in many schools are very much looking forward to PAAM's new feature of listing every application on student handhelds. One can now distribute and delete entire programs from student handhelds remotely using PAAM. This greatly improves staff ability to monitor inappropriate and unapproved software such as games and other software that could bring about discipline problems or conflict with the stability of the handheld.

In short then, PAAM enables teachers to effectively manage and assess students' documents created on their handheld computers. When students sync their handheld computer, PAAM retrieves their documents from the handhelds and sends them to a secure server. From any networked computer, teachers and parents can review and assess student work, distribute assignments and provide feedback to their students.
